The Smith uses a bullet of between 360 and 380 gr. Rifleing is probably too slow to stabilize a bullet that long.

John. I have tried unsuccesfully to use the 450g 50-70 bullet in my Smith. Both the Lyman and Rapine bullet keyhole. I agree with Joe that the Smith Twist is to slow for that long of a bullet. Bob E
