1842 Springfield Musket 69 cal and Fremont Model, Rifled, Armi Sport. .69 cal ????

Have a few of these both the 42 rifled and Fremont rifled that I do not shoot that much.

I like them and really don't want to sell but got to thinking about trading the Rifled barrels out for aftermarket, maybe even factory Armisports that were take off barrels... Would just keep the Rifled barrels for later use.

Any thoughts on putting in a new barrel/used factory barrel, to use for smoothbore shooting?

Can't remember the length of the Fremont but was thinking the length of the barrel on it may be a problem on that one.
The full length 42 looks like it would just take a barrel and nose cap?

Was thinking about something in the line of the Cadet's, that are being sold with two barrels.... Being able to trade barrel for SB or Rifle....

    Any thoughts?

Swapped emails with Whitacre a short while back on getting a smoothbore barrel for the Armisport Fremont. I would have to come up with a spare Armisport tang.

Sounds like it would be better to look for a take of barrel then cut it down.
What is different in the tang?

A different dimension on the tang. Width somewhere I think.
