Question for Charlie Hahn or someone that knows?

I found an old post some where a member mentions that the sleeve in the IAB 1863 version doesn't move, is a press in.

    Is this true?

    Hi Fly,

On the Italian reproductions the sleeve is undersized and should move. However, these usually become frozen and can't be taken out with normal tools. The other issue is some of them, even if free are too long to take out without removing the barrel from the frame. If it is frozen and the breech block can move up and down it is okay to shoot. It will leak, and the block will freeze up which will make your outing a little less enjoyable. I do a repair/modification to breech if you are interested that fixes both issues. Here is my web site, charliestubes.com there are pictures there of the modification ad a description. Take look there, and feel free to call with questions.

    Regards

    Fly,

Back Creek Gun Shop is located at the end of the exit road to Fort Shenandoah the N-SSA's home range in Winchester, VA where a lot of skirmishers get their Black Powder, Musket Caps etc. Contact John Venskoske, and see if he will ship some musket caps to you. Hope this helps.
