    Mortar Bore Scrapper

All,Can someone tell me what this implement is and or what is used in a mortar match. I am trying to gather together the required implements for my 12# mortar for inspection and competing at the Spring Nats. Thanks

It is a 2 sided implement used to scrape the powder fouling residue and scale from the bore and chamber of the tube. They take a 24" piece of 1/2" round steel bar, heat the end until it is cherry red, then beat in on a mandrel til the end takes the shape of a soup spoon. The other end has a 3" piece welded on that fits the contour of the bore to drag the debris out of the muzzle. Hope this helps, Tim.

    Cool Scraper

    Thanks
Though I am still not clear on the shape/configuration of the 3" piece you described. My mind's eye is pretty much blind and needs pictures or drawings to understand.

You can also use a spoon of your choice and glue it to a wood dowel.

    Scraper

    Guys,
I saw a drawing and description of one in the Gibbons manual today but the Spoon and dowel seems to be the way to go.
Thanks for the assistance. I'm good.
