Question, are the Wilkinson bullets able to be sized without mashing them? I presently size my minies to .575.

Moose has tested these bullets personally, he finalized the .577 and is finishing up the .580 as we speak.
He, as well as many other skirmishers that have used this mould DO in fact size them down.

When can we possibly hope to expect a single or 2 gang .54 caliber minie mold for those of us what shoot the Mississip?

Dave, has anyone ever made a 2 gang Minie mould? The only modern minie gang mould I have seen is a 4 gang Lyman type semi-wadcutter. Boy, can you knock out a lot of bullets in a short amount of time!

Regarding the minie mould - Moose has a "Hot List" of moulds based on demand - This is high on the list, but probably won't happen until after the Fall Nationals.
Keep an eye on the bulletin board for new releases, he currently has 3 new ones in the works!

I never would have thought I could get a 2-gang Smoothbore in .678, but Rapine made ONE of these a year or so ago, and it sure makes short work of smoothbore casting. I thought since Moose was making others in multiple throw, maybe they could do one for the .54 minie. I would think with as many of the .54 minies on the line, that a mold for that would be further up the priority line, but mostly I am glad to have another option since Rapine has all but ceased production.

Yes, Dave, I agree completely. As a point of curiosity, I ave a 4 gang .590 RB mould from Rapine. It is the standard set of blocks with 2 cavities in top, and 2 cavities on the bottom, each with their own sprue cutter plate. You cas t 2, roll it over and cast 2 more!
I have also used original arsenal 4 gang minie ball moulds, one from Springfield in brass, and one from Harper's Ferry in iron....but they are really heavy.

As far as a multi-gang mould, for the Wilkinson specifically - I have a 6-gang mould of the Edington design in .54 that I shoot in my Miss. Looks eerily similar to this bullet design. Single wedge, fletching groove on bottom driving band. The mould is a Lee aluminum block which saves weight, but does have some issues with the alignment pins and the long sprue cutter. But, carefully handled it has dropped several thousand rounds for me and is still going. Yes, a 6-gang .54 can get quite heavy/tiring during the moulding process, but since you are really only moulding 10-15 'throws' and you are done for a skirmish, the time saved is tremendous and gives me more time to do other preparations needed for the upcoming weekend. I have a 6-gang for the Maynard too - so my moulding sessions are relatively short....
