    Hobby gunsmith scratch builds here?

Hello folks new guy here. John Holland tells me that a good number of you fellers are skilled craftsmen and I think he said some here have built their own breechloader? I was wondering what to put in the search window box to pull up one of your builds? I am trying to read a lot of the back posts but thought I'd jump in and say Hi and see how I am treated when I ask a lame question.

I've built a few rifles but now building my first civil war era rifle.Maynard.....Hope to rub elbows, share the enthusiasm for the old guns with like minded folks....Reading previous posts I found one man telling he was building a Starr carbine, I am still hoping to find a build thread for that one if rachbobo provided one..

Here you can find a thread I started in a hobby metalsworking forum where I show several I built.. http://www.chaski.org/homemachinist/...p?f=10&t=89200 ..Not exact replicas, I change up dimensions where it suits me.

Absolutely great work but this is from a guy that can't draw a file straight. Rachbobo, Bill Cheek is on our team. He's one of those guys that you plant an idea and he makes it happen. Depending upon your location you really need to come to Winchester and talk to him and others who do the same thing. We love talking about what we do.

After clicking your link and seeing all the other guns you've built I can't wait to see a Maynard! If you need and parts to copy just let me know as I have all the original parts in original mint condition. OK,,,,,then again looking at yer work you won't need anything. LOL! Awesome work!!!!!!

HEY EGGMAN.....did ya note he is building a Maynard rather then a sharps <Grin>

RaiderANV Naturally I appreciate compliments.Thank you..

.Metalsworking is my #1 hobby. The gunsmithing side of things still has me studying the books..

There arent good dimensioned drawings for most firearms. I can manage a good functional build working just from pictures but thats not as close to 'authentic' as I would prefer....John Holland generously provided me some critical dimensions I wanted for the two Maynards that I am building. Really helps .

Thanks to each and every one of you for the warm welcome you have given to my cyber-friend, Alphawolf45. As you can see, he is a very talented machinist with some interest in what we do, too. I invited him to try this board because we are shooters, machinists, and everything else imaginable. I think we will be able to help him enjoy his part of the hobby. Now, all we have to do is find a skirmish somewhere he can drive to comfortably, as I believe Winchester, VA is a bit of a haul for him.

No, Winchester, Virginia is in the Shenandoah Valley, off of Interstate 81. Northern Virginia is EAST of the Blue Ridge mountains.
