Skirmish ready 1858 Enfield for Sale-SOLD

Skiirmish-ready two-band 1858 model Enfield musket by Armi Sport for $495.00 plus postage, bank draft only. This musket was purchased about three years ago to serve as a backup for my regular shooter, but was never used after being tuned for skirmishing. Trigger pull is crisp and a bit over 4 lbs. Very accurate with the Rapine Wadcutter, .575, and 40 gr. of fff Goex. Front sight raised to .470. Sighted in for point of aim. The rear sight elevation for 50 yds. is achieved by a metal washer (.071) placed around the head of the rear sight spring retaining screw while the 100 yd. elevation is .141 by the same method. Enough spare parts are provided to shoot this musket for a very long time: tumbler, sear, two sear springs, main spring, two nipples. Very nice stock. No scratches or dings. If interested, send a Private Message to set up a telephone call. Necessary edit

I discovered a correction which was necessary for my announcement of the sale of the 1858 Enfield. The cost of insurance is not the buyer's responsibility. The new wording reflects this. Priority mail shipping (unless the buyer has another preference) is the only buyer expense which will be added.

    Barrel weight of Enfield

One of the individuals who responded to my ad about the Enfield asked whether the barrel was the heavy or lighter one used by Armi Sport. I said I was not aware that Armi Sport used different barrels for their 1858 model reproduction. Out of curiosity I weighed the barrel and found that it was 3 lbs., 14 oz. (The overall weight of the musket was 8 lbs., 12 oz.) For a comparison of sorts, since I did not have access to a Euroarms of America 1858 model Enfield, I weighed the barrel from the EOA Zouave, which I found to be 5.0 lbs. That is quite a bit heavier than the Armi Sport barrel. If EOA put a barrel of similar size on their 58 Enfield, then what the question put to me may reflect is the fact that the reproductions of the 1858 Model Enfield vary somewhat in the weight of the barrels. It would be interesting to compare these barrels to the original barrel to see which is the truer reproduction.

The Engliash made Parker-Hale reproduction Enfields are said to be very close to the originals. I have a 2 band P-H, but I don't have a scale.

Yes, the English-made Parker-Hales have a reputation for being a truer reproduction. It would be interesting to see if your two-band has a barrel close in weight to the originals. Please inform us if you ever make such a comparison. The more I think of it, barrel weight may be an important but sometimes over-looked variable that is considered when buying a reproduction Civil War weapon. Among other things, weight affects balance and effort to hold the sights on the target. This could greatly affect ability to achieve accuracy.

I should mention the Armi Sport 1858 Enfield is still available for $470.
