I have a James River 2 band 59 Harpers Ferry Rifle, it has the long range sight and the brass nose cap, the rest of the furniture is steel. Anyone know if I can put the steel patchbox on it without violating any N SSA rules?
Thanks Scott

In order to add a patchbox to your rifle, you need to alter it to a type III M1855. The rear sight would have to be changed to M1858 block rear sight and the nose cap has to change from brass to steel. The arm would then need a SAC card.

Thank you, Tom.
In addition to what Tom has stated, the M-1858, 3 leaf, rear sight will have to be relocated farther back on the barrel to 2.75" from the back edge of the barrel.
