At first glance it looks like it could be a mainspring out of a 1816 or a 1842, I have been wrong before though. With out being able to compare it side by side to a U.S. made musket it could be a foreign made mainspring.

I think it is from a Siler flint or percussion. Not sure if it for the large or small size. What is the overall lenghth? I can measure some of mine and let you know.

2.8 inches long and i do have a Isaac Haines Flintlock with a Siler lock(I think large)...

Looks as though it could be a lorenz spring or belgian of some sort looks like a lorenz to me.
It's not a Lorenz. The long side has the curved hook like a Lorenz, but the end of the short side is different.
