Bulk Lead Purchase Update 17 Dec 08

    Update 12 Jan 08:

I have heard from Doe Run, the price per pound is .6297 per lb delivered to the Fort.

The seventh email to all participants has been sent so if you did not get a conformation it means I don't have your email address.

If the lead comes from Doe Run the lead will come in 60 LBS "Pigs" thier dimensions are about 21x3x4 inches.

If you want to be part of this send me an email, do not post it to the forum. You will know you are on the list when you get the email mentioned above.

If you don't have email address let me know here.

FWIW, I read earlier this year that the largest lead mining corp. in the U.S. (in MO I believe) just discovered the largest pocket of lead ever found in this country on the MO side of the Mississippi River.

I would like to find it for 0.40/lb but I just checked yesterday at my local connection, 99.9% pure lead (with analysis in 70 lb+/- bars) is 0.80/lb. I know i can get all of this we need but certainly hasn't dropped to stock exchange prices, unless we want a truck full 30,000 plus pounds and then they said they'd make me a good deal????

    Lead

If it can be done in the 40 to 50 cent range I also could use a 1,000 lbs.

  8. Looked it up on the kitco.com exchange; factory pure lead is selling for 43 cents this morning 12/10/08. Check it out.
Junk prices are coming in are in the 15 cent range and going out about 50 cents 1/2 mile from my house. Quality from a junkyard is always suspect but anyone in the N-SSA should know pure lead when they see it!

Some of us newer folks are still working on our soft lead identification skills. It's part of the new qualification program and includes identification by sight, touch and smell. :P

Don't leave out taste, or sound neither (when you drop a 1-pound ingot of soft lead on a concrete floor, it goes clunk instead of clink)!
