what is the length of the gun? 2 band, or 3 band? I have found tha the 2 band tends to run a 580 bore. The 3 band and musketoon tend to run a 577 bore. Some times the underside of the barrel is stamped. Hope this helps Marv

My British 2 band Parker-Hale takes a .576 Minie. I'd say mine is a .577.

Mine too. I used to shoot .575s 'til I found out .576s fit, but NOT .577s.

In my 3-band PH Enfield, serial #38xx, a .576 bullet is a very tight fit. A .575 bullet is a slip fit with just a bit of wiggle.
Be aware that not all calipers are calibrated the exact same. A variance of .001 would not be surprising. I check mine against a feeler gage.

I made a gauge to measure my barrels. My Parker Hale musketoon measures a tight .576 and a .575 Minie has almost no wiggle.
My PH 2 band measures a loose .577 and may be close to .578.
