Coehorn Mortar Bed
I am not 100% sure, and I have read over the N-SSA Rules. So in regards to the Wooden Bed of a Coehorn Mortar does it need to be constructed of one Solid Piece of Wood? Reason I ask is that my father and I purchased a mortar off a member of McNeil's years ago and it was a solid one piece of wood. Over the years because of moisture the bed has checked and is now no longer flat. Obviously I could plane it flat but over time I figure it will do the same thing.
I have looked online at some original mortars from the Civil War and a lot of them seem to be split in the middle and some have multiple pieces of wood for a base.
Is it within the rules to have a base made up of multiple pieces of oak? Almost like a "laminate" but maybe 1" thick pieces of oak?
Hoping to maybe get this thing on the range in the near future, and I figured it was better to be told, than assume.
