Titanium nipples for a Whitworth?

I stumbled into an early Euroarms Witeorth with a Parker Hale barrel, unfortunately it came with a mis-sized nipple, and the appropriate sized platinum lined nipple of M8-1.25/ 5/16x20 isn't available. Has anyone used titanium to make a nipple? The melting point of titanium is about 100 deg Celsius lower than platinum. Anybody tried a titanium nipple? I can't find anything online

Aluminum Bronze would work better, and is a lot easier to machine. Titanium is good for not corroding in most environments, but I don't know how it would do with black powder fouling. Alpha Ti can be brittle due to the crystal structure. Beta stabilized or Alpha-Beta alloys would be preferable (such as Ti6Al4V, which is the most common commercial alloy). All of the alloys are a pain to machine on typical hobbyist equipment. The right cutting oils help a lot!
