I have a very clean J. Hitchcock altered 1838 dated Springfield M1816 type 3 for sale. Stock is in great shape, and has a visible cartouche. Metal is excellent with a great bore. Lock functions flawlessly. The percussion alteration is very similar to the H&P type 3, but does not have a H&P stamp on the bolster. The rear sight is the M1858 type, and the front sight is a tall iron one.
Looking for $1,250 shipped. Musket is now sold.
