This is a link just to Alibaba, not the listing in question. Do you have a link to the actual listing?Another skirmisher inquired about an American company that makes machines that make clay pigeons. No luck! A found a company in the Phillipines that makes a machine. The site has a big emphasis on making clay bricks. The web site is

It appears that clay pigeons are made of chalk with pitch as a binder.

This is miscellaneous information I had gathered during Steve's thread. Backyard range shooters can try this target concoction to see if it is durable enough, I do not know if this is the same recipe for plaster targets...Water, Gypsum, and Sand.

Fellow Skirmishers,
I posted earlier that I was going to attend and try wooden targets made from pallet wood at the Fall Recruitment skirmish in Springtown. The weather forecast was bad so I did not attend. Consequently, the weather was ok, but I did not attend. The next time that I can try these wooden targets in a skirmish atmosphere will be in February of 2025. You keep trying, and I will keep trying and hope for the best.

As the post said, has there been any movement on new target ideas on the National level? Are the wooden blocks the new Clay pot silhouette?
Does the NSSA want to be target manufacture independent? In an old post I suggested wood blocks made out of pallet wood. I was hoping to test the wood block theory last August at a recruitment skirmish, but life and rain got in the way. It is 2025 and maybe members have new ideas that require scrutiny.
I came across an idea that I would like to share. It is advertised as a fire starter but in reality, it is a round block of pressed cedar chips held together with wax. The cost from the manufacturer is expensive, but it generates the idea that the NSSA can make its own disks using a variety of materials. These disks are made of wood shavings but why not ground up clay pigeons, tiles, wood and cardboard that presently the organization is throwing in the trash at the end of a skirmish. Recycling of old materials is the new wave.
Another idea for you to consider. Who has ownership of the molds that were used to make the recent white pot silhouette? My understanding was that these pot silhouettes were fragile and were easily broken by big hands skirmishers. Can we get the recent manufacturer to try to make these targets again but this time using a different material like wood chips or pulverized material from broken clays, tiles and other debris even old newspaper.
I am not mechanically inclined but if someone can think it, then someone can make it.
I understand that cost, and time in vs time out are two big factors. Maybe the membership is not ready to invest time and talents into this project? Maybe the membership wants to show and up shoot and go home. It could be a matter of time vs money. Maybe skirmishers have more money than time. and they are willing to pay for the new targets instead of investing time and energy? What will be will be. With a skirmish number of 03626v, I am trying to hang on to 50 years in the NSSA.
By looking at my skirmisher number, anyone can tell that I have been around a long time, and my future time may be short. If anyone likes this project and thinks that this idea has merit, I encourage them to run with it. I live 150 miles from the Fort so traveling is not practical, but I am here to ask and give advice if anyone want to take the lead and explore the possibility of creating a silhouette using new material.
In addition, I recently returned from my local hardware store and came across two ideas for targets. I will post photos shortly.
Then again, it is what it is, and I hope for the best.
