If your skirmish director is not afraid to make some enemies...try silver Christmas tree ornaments. When the sun hits them just right...they darn near disappear. Would not recommend 100yrds...50yrds is hard enough.

Kevin, are these N-SSA Skirmishes or an ACWSA event? ACWSA
In response to this post, I did some searching and found this website. The website represents a company that makes machines that makes clay pigeons plus other targets! HINT! Hint!. The company is based in Turin which I assume is Turin, Italy. If you remember, Navy Arms Company aka Val Forgett, went to Italy and contracted to make repro arms. Navy Arms are you reading to this post? Val, Jr. is still a member is he not.
Let's see if i did this correctly,

There you go. The site is posted.

Harry, I can see the wood block concept working, besides being reusable...just replace one shot block. Again, interesting on the clay maker.
Steve, 1/4" plate will work. If dented, heat and pound out or use a press to flatten. Acorn, Clubs, Star shape, Pots...endless creativity shapes for both 50 and 100yd. As for weight you can stagger steel with tile at a hundo.
Balloons have double the use...fill with water or air.
Jackrabbits are roughly 5 1/2".
Take care.

"For us, warriors are not what you think of as warriors. The warrior is not someone who fights, because no one has the right to take another life. The warrior, for us, is one who sacrifices himself for the good of others. His task is to take care of the elderly, the defenseless, those who can not provide for themselves, and above all, the children, the future of humanity." - Great Native American Legend - Sitting Bull
If you have not done so already, please check out my post that describes a clay pigeon making machine that is made in Turin, and I am assuming it is Turin, Italy. Upon reading the new Skirmish Line that came today, the International muzzleloading competition is being held this year in Italy, page 4. I believe that we have members on the international team. Maybe, just maybe, they can take a side trip and check it out. Just asking.
The bottom line is that we can make our own targets and save money in the long run.
Again, we should expand our contacts with Navy Arms and Pedrosoli to see if they can help us with the next shipment of firearms from Europe to the US. Navy Arms was located in New Jersey, but there is store a mere 45 minutes from Fort Shenandoah along 81. I think that the store is off exit 11?? Now I am guessing.
Thanks in advance,

Well Harry, I am kinda surprised know one has asked about the price upon that pigeon maker. Granted, shipment from overseas would be expensive...are there American versions...I have not researched your submission.
Fill me in on what you found.
Options are good.
Take care.

Another skirmisher inquired about an American company that makes machines that make clay pigeons. No luck! A found a company in the Phillipines that makes a machine. The site has a big emphasis on making clay bricks. The web site is
www.Alibaba.com
Clay pigeons or clay bricks?
the price for the machine is in the thousands but not out of sight, but a group like ours it may be more work that convenience. If this idea has merit, it should be picked up by someone in the organization that has the authority to make decisions at this level.
The clay pigeon machine from Italy has merit because it talks about recycling broken clay pigeons to the virgin mix to make new clay pigeons. Does the NSSA want to think about recycling target material instead of trash it? The pigeons from the Italian machine and process can be composed.
Does anyone on the Board want to crunch the numbers and see if it is feasible to start making some of our own target material?

Harry, I forgot to ask...have you used the wood block target in competition yet? Just wondering if it was used while hosting a skirmish?
Take care.

It could be possible to modify the clay tile machine to make targets.
