    High Grade ??????

I am not sure about High Grade but they load, fire, go boom, birds fall like rain and pass SAC. Short on beauty but beautiful on function.

Not sure about actual companies producing, James River was around a long time ago. Pedersoli makes very good quality repros. Many of us either had custom builds done by quality builders or did the work ourselves. Many good platforms are out there to work with. Barrels by Hoyt or Whitaker, if needed, original parts, learning curves from experience.
I just finished a Zoli that now has a 4 lb pull, glass bedded, new sights. Bore was excellent. Shoots one ragged hole benched at 50 yds.
It all matters how much you are willing to invest and time you put to the project.

I think he's looking for someone like a Tom Nixon who builds custom muskets.

I don't know of anyone who currently does stuff like that on the regular.

Custom barrels can be had from Hoyt and Whitacre. But I don't know of anyone who is building "competition grade" muskets as a going business affair.
