Where to buy durable charge tubes?

So the last batch of 200 tubes I bought (the red plastic ones with a rim), 25 have already split.

Anyone know where to buy some durable plastic charge tubes?

I prefer the plastic over the rubber because semi-wadcuter bullets like the hodgdon are harder to stuff in the rubber tubes. The case mouths seem to curl in slightly making it hard to get the shoulder into the tube.

You might have to call CAPLUGS (B-203-6) to see if they still make or will create them...it looks like it from their catalog cover picture. Ask for a bulk rate, and sell them off...you probably will not a have a problem there.

I am still using my fathers batch (early 1980's...as he crammed mini's, maxzies, and wads into them) and mine from 2000. No problems so far...

I noticed, you did not mention where you bought the last batch from?

    Lets us know, take care.

    Tubes

I had the same problem with my new batch of tubes from s&s.
    Half split after one use.

Just checked Dixie gun works. They have some tubes in stock

Boil a hot pot of water, stick the tubes in and stir and allow to boil for 5 minutes. Turn the pot off and allow them to cool slowly. It helps soften the plastic.

I always add a little garlic powder. It makes the tubes taste better whilst pulling the Minie with your teeth.

Well Gil, that's one way to add lead into your diet...bite the bullet baby, and forget about buying commie Chinese toothpaste from the dollar store.

So, people don't talk to you close-up and mosquitoes stay away...ahhh, the power of garlic and a good idea!

I saw in the thread where someone wanted a "Bulk price" for the tubes.
The red tubes from CapLug you can buy from 200 tubes (highest cost) up to 5,000 lowest cost.
If you want a color other than red the minimum is 15,000 tubes. if you order another color the delivery is not good!!

The reason the tubes split is they use "regrind" (the plastic scrap is ground up and mixed with the "new" pellets.
The more regrind the more split tubes. You have to remember the new pellets cost more than the scrap regrind pellets.
Boiling them as stated above helps a lot. Plus you can't force the bullet in the tube when they are new.

I bought mine from S&S Firearms. To be fair, the owner offered to replace the split ones. Also, as Joe noted, this is not really their fault, because the problem is probably due to cheap plastic being used to make the items.

Remember - these things are actually sold as thread protectors for protecting threaded things during shipping and are meant to be disposable.

I just bought another 300 from S&S and will try boiling them with some garlic.
