I am posting this thread for Preston Hewitt, who is a former skirmisher and teammate who is no longer skirmishing and wants to sell his N-SSA arms. Preston holds the N-SSA's Distinguished Skirmisher and Distinguished Revolver Shooter badges. All these guns will shoot --- if you can:
1. Remington New Model 1858 revolver with a complete Tom Ball accurization job. It comes with the original test target fired by Ball from a Ransom rest. This pistol was further modified by Rob Lewis at Tri-L to accept a Taylor's and Company .45 Long Colt cartridge conversion cylinder so you can practice without the mess of clean up after shooting black powder. The pistol and conversion cylinder may be purchased as a unit or separately. Note: The conversion cylinders will generally not fit a reproduction Remington pistol unless it has been fitted for them. Both the pistol and the conversion cylinder have been sold.
2. Farmingdale, NY, Shiloh Sharps Model 1859 infantry rifle. Preston sent the rifle back to Shiloh for replacement of the sliding breech block gas seal when it became worn, and it hasn't been shot since it was returned to him. The rifle is in excellent mechanical condition. Shiloh is no longer manufacturing Model 1859 rifles and hasn't in some time. The rifle has been sold.
3. Farmingdale Shiloh Sharps Model 1863 carbine, with a Wolf's Head marked barrel. The Wolf's Head marked guns were reputedly hand selected by Wolfgang Droege, who was the original owner of Shiloh, for accuracy. While Shiloh still manufactures Model 1863 carbines, a new one would you cost over $2,600 with a two year or more wait for delivery. The carbine has been sold.
4. Custom Model 1855 rifle with browned Steve Jensco barrel and Cross long-range ladder rear sight. It comes with the Small Arms Committee inspection card. This is a truly sweet rifle. The rifle has been sold.
Preston will be at the Wheat's Tigers camp - the log cabin in Area 5 - with the firearms on Friday afternoon of the Spring National beginning at about noon, at which time you may make offers for the arms. Any resonable offers received prior to the Nationals will be discussed with Preston, with delivery of the arm(s) at the Fort.

Don Dixon
