    Hotter caps

Has anyone tried "heating up" musket caps for breech loaders by adding a bit of Prime-All priming compound to the cap covered with a paper disc? My Gallager and Sharps can be a bit finicky and I bought some of the Prime-All to try. My concern is getting them too hot and burning out the nipple.

RWS. They usually work fine, just the occasional misfire.

Have you tried Schuetzen brand caps? They work fine for me.

I reserve my Schuetzen caps for my muskets. They work fine. For my carbines, they seen to have less pop than the RWS. I'd especially like to eliminate the occasional misfires with my Gallager. I don't compete, so perhaps in retrospect, rather than doctoring up the caps, a nipple primer would be the way to go.
