Just curious - is the "Pedersoli Kentucky Style Pistol" - page 79 DGW Catalog -actually modeled after an actual arm - or is it a fantasy piece along the lines of all those brass framed "Cornfederate" 44 Ca Navy's.

I purchased the Pedersoli kit at the Nationals and there happened to be an original at one of the Sutlers. They were kind enough to let me trace the pistol and dimension it with calipers. I took all this information to the Inspector General. The official decision was the kit should resemble the factory finished Pedersoli pistol. The difference being the original has a pronounced knob at the butt and the reproduction has a swell.

I believe these are the pistols to OP is referring to (Pg. 80, last years Dixie catalog). They are reasonably authentic, pretty much a generic Kentucky, basically simplified for production. As close as anything you can buy OTC.
NO, they never were issued to the military and were not produced by an armory or military contractor.
I was a fearing that....
