Dixie Gun Works rubber cartridge tubes

Is there any drawback to using the rubber 54/58 tubes Dixie sells? The reason I ask is because of the eventual splitting of the cap-plug type tubes made from the harder plastic.

    Thank you,

    Bob

None that I know of. I've been using them (from sutlers at the fort rather than Dixie) for 35 years with no problems. I also use them for revolvers too. I found they are much easier to use than the hard capplugs. I had marked some with a felt marker back in the 90s to identify different loads and some of those are still in use.

I like the soft rubber tubes mainly because they fit into my cartridge box without having to trim the flange.

I've noticed however they sometimes do not hold certain minie styles as well as the hard plugs, depends on the nose profile/front driving band.
