    Heavy Potsdam Hammer Spring

    Anyone shooting a Potsdam smoothbore have any ideals on ways to reduce the Mainspring right now it?s a 8lb+ it?s looks in good shape cleaned/polished/all the lock is original 1844

    Mainspring

    The way I do it is by draw-filing the lower leaf with a sharp, fine cut mill file. You must uniformly reduce thickness along the entire length of the spring leaf and it takes quite a bit before you notice a difference.
