Check with your regional IG. he should have all of the specs for approved arms.

Here are three Ballard carbines. two are military and one is not. The top 2 guns are marked Merwyn and Bray and Ballard's Patent on the receiver. The top one used the 56 Spencer cartridge and has sling swivels. Too rare to even think about converting to centerfire. The middle one is a civilian model, lacks sling swivels, has a 26 inch barrel, and a curved butt plate. It has been converted to centerfire, uses a 44 Special cartridge with 24 grains of 3f Goex and a Keith style bullet. There are a number of guns like this around, but they would need different butt stocks, swivels, and barrel alterations to match an approved military configuration. The final gun is an original Ball and Williams military carbine. It has a sling bar and ring in addition to sling swivels. Some unit apparently wasn't satisfied with sling swivels and wanted the bar and ring as well. This gun is 100% original and has not had the centerfire conversion or any other alterations.
