What makes you think it?s a proof mark? I don?t know why a band would be subject to proof. I don?t recognise the mark, and you provide no clue as to what the arm is to even guess a county of origin. Could be a makers mark from whoever supplied the bands, or an inspection mark.

The only part of a gun they proof is the barrel why would they put a proof mark on a barrel band. Besides by law it has to be on the barrel.

I used the wrong term, its not a proof, more accurately an "acceptance mark" and if I knew what gun it was from I would have said so.

Thank you, I am starting to suspect it may be from a Vetterli. It was mixed in with some Lorenz parts that I picked up.
