I am interested in purchasing an 1842 Springfield smoothbore. I am looking for the three band/full length version. At this point I have a preference for reproduction.
Thank you for your time,

I read that you are interested in reproductions but for about the same price you can own and shoot an original. When you are done, it is still an original. I have a full length 42 in beautiful condition. It is missing the date on the breech, but she is a beauty. I will sell for $1600. I also have a 36 inch Macon with SAC card and mold for $900. The stock has been repaired under the rear band. I have shot this Macon in competition, but it has been retired. I now shoot an H and P. We could go the picture route, but I am hoping to shoot some at the Fort this Spring. Hands on approach is the best and we can connect at that time. Best of luck in your search.

I appreciate the offers above. To answer the questions about why not an original, or a Macon (or other type of weapon) is that my son wanted to do a reenacting event in July - and the event requires an 1842 or an 1861 Springfield. I already have an 1861 Springfield and thought this might be a great opportunity to obtain a smoothbore musket (1842 Springfield) that would serve both purposes (his Reenacting event and my N-SSA usage). At this point I am holding off on my search until closer to nationals.
Thank you,
Daniel
