I have what appears to be the remnants of a German made Pattern 53 Enfield.
Lock is stamped SP & SR with the English crown appearing below the stamped lettering. The SP& SR stand for Spanenberg & Sauer. Based on the round eared lockwashers, the stock is German as well.
This is a parts gun, the stock has been cut down and it appears to have been used as a waterfowl shotgun. Everything is a bit toastie but the lock, internal lock workings, brass butt stock plate, brass trigger guard etc. should clean up well. The barrel is a write off in my opinion.
Was given to me by a flying buddy who just wanted it out of his closet. So no reasonable offer refused.
I will have it tomorrow out at the Dulaney along with a Charles Daley .50 cal Hawken with set triggers also for sale. Would like $50 for the Hawken.
Will be up behind the Sutlers at the Laurel Brigade Club House after the Sunday Musket Match.
Cheers! Ron V.
