It does not list it in the SAC handbook. Is it lumped in with the Armisport 1861 as the only difference is the lockplate, is it listed as an approved Arm under the CS 1855 Richmond or or it not an approved musket at all?

To muddy the waters even more, Dixie gun works lists it as NSSA approved, but the SAC handbook does not

YES .... Listed and approved as a CS 1855 Richmond on page 8. I think some would agree removing the words 1855 would fix the issue.

To all - I have had some computer issues which have prevented me from replying to this, or anything else for that matter, which also includes Gil's email to me. The Richmond Rifle Musket, as shown in the photo, is approved for use in the N-SSA and is the one indicated in the "Approved Arms List". I understand the confusion regarding the terminology using the "1855" date. This was adopted a long time ago when the discussion was that it should be called a "Richmond M-1855 Rifle Musket" because Richmond used the exact same Harper's Ferry M-1855 Rifle Musket tooling to produce this musket. The tooling, of course, having been captured in the raid to Harper's Ferry in 1861. The tooling was taken from the Harper's Ferry Armory and reinstalled in the Richmond Armory. Since this has now become confusing, I will reword the terminology in the next edition of the "Approved Arms List".
