Original, Erma, or relined Erma?
gemmer, a friend turned me on to a site that has the brass for sale. I ordered a half dozen of them. mine is an original weapon. now to get RB'S fore it, and to find out how many grains you load into the cases? and 2FG, or 3FG? toot.

Your first step is to slug your bore. It may need a good lead out cleaning to get an accurate measurement. Originals were loaded with a conical. You may find that a Smith?Maynard bullet will suit your needs unless you're dead set on using a RB. I use 30 gr of Swiss 3F and a .517 Smith type bullet in my .50 Cal. relined Erma. Look for some original shooters to jump in on this.
I am not intent to use a RB, in it just didn't know what to use. a conical it will be. the SMITH conical's , do I just thumb pressure them in, or tap them in with a small mallet? thank you for the info on powder charge, a great help. and the locking lever catch that locks the lever in place. after each shot do I have to unlock it every time or just close it up and not have it engage the lock? toot.
sorry, I just saw the answer to my question on YOU TUBE, HILLMAN pulls the locking lever back after each shot, to reload it. toot.
You are probably going to find the Smith/Maynard bullet to be to small for the Gallager. Most Smith bullets are 0.520? or smaller, original Gallager?s have a grove diameter closer to 0.540?.
If your groove depth is anywhere near .540, you?re going to need a heeled bullet to fit the case.
