    Tumbler repair question

    Hello all,

Forgive me if this is the wrong place for this question. I have a tumbler from a Palmetto Colt Revolving rifle that the half cock stop fractured off. Would I be able to silver solder a block of steel to the tumbler to reshape it? I can't find a replacement, and the missing piece is too low to just refile the stop. Thank all.

The silver solder process is too hot and will soften the tumbler to where it will wear out rapidly. TIG welding to build it up would be a better process but then after reshaping the tumbler would need to be rehardened to be usable.

I had a bad tumbler on a Burnside I bought years ago. I had a friend TIG weld it and then I re-cut the grooves on the tumbler with a file.
