I was cleaning my Pedersoli 1859 Sharps today and I noticed that there is a "scratchy" part of the bore that I can feel, and hear, about 6-8 inches from the muzzle. The ramrod transmits the sound, kind of like the old string-and-a-tin-can telephones. I could clearly here something "scratchy" going on through the ramrod. I brushed (axially) twice with a brass bristle brush, and swabbed until it was clean. Scratchiness was still there.
So I took out my cheap-o $15 borescope and had a look. This thing doesn't work so good as a rifle borsecope as it doesn't see close-up in focus very well. But, it's better than nothing.
I can clearly see that one of the lands has spiral grooves/scratches in it. They seem to come in pairs, like a set of periodic spiral train tracks cutting across one of the lands. My guess is these are tool marks from when the barrel was bored that were not cleaned up when the bore was finished?

What do you all think?
I have done a tone of load workup work with this gun with the Pedersoli Christmas Tree bullet, a Rapine-style Christmas Tree bullet, and the Eras Gone Richmond Sharps. Accuracy is just so-so. Can't seem to do better than about a 2-3" group at 50 yards off a bench:
Can Hoyt line a Sharps?
