    Maynard Guts

    Some gutless Maynard muskets for sale lately. Here's what the guts look like with primer tape inserted. Notice push rod like in cap guns and anti backup spring. The complete lock makes it a little harder to use caps so the guys gut them.

    A nice photo of the Maynard Tape altered M-1816 Musket. Personally, I wouldn't have the nerve to place a real a roll of caps in it!

    Noticed my initial description is a bit funky. The other end of the "anti backup spring" is the tension spring for the push arm. New England machinists would never put two springs in where one will do.
