    Zouave Blowback to Halfcock

I shot a new to me Zouave this weekend with my standard 40gr 3f load and a Lyman .578213 bullet. The hammer is bouncing back to the halfcock position when it's fired.
I have been shooting many years and there was a time I knew what caused this and how to fix it.
    Someone please refresh my memory.
    Thanks

    Jeff,

Pull the nipple out and check the hole in it.
I had 2 older guns, Zoli, the hole was so big it would vent gas and cocked the gun.
After that I alway pull them and look to see the hole. Bet it looks like a funnel on the back side opened up.

Therefore, you want to replace the nipple....

Correct, if that is what his looks like. Seen several that were done this way, why I do not know but they were.
But there could be a chance the main spring was messed with, has cracked or just bad. Hard to know without seeing it.

    Ya gotta understand "Musket Talk"

Your Zouave is saying to you: "Replace my nipple, PLEASE!"

    Maybe what it's really saying is, "I wish I was a semi-auto..."
