Need To ID These 2 Springs 42 Pistol? Lorenz Rifle?

Both appear to be pre 1850's. I Think the thin one that uses a screw is for an 1836 or 1842 Waters. One leg measures 2 15/16" the other 1 3/8". between pin & hole is 7/8 to centers.

The big ones leg measures 3" and 2" with the pin right in the bend.

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

    Bruce,

I just took apart two Model 1854 Lorenz locks. Both mainsprings match your bigger spring. The other I can't help you with.

    my waters measures as follows:
    longest 2 1/2
    shortest 1 7/16
    pin to hole 15/16

    my 42 Aston:
    longest 2 5/8
    shortest 1 7/16
    pin to hole 15/16

both have a rounded nub at the end of the hook like on the Lorentz
    both take a screw
When in doubt, mumble, when in trouble, delegate.

    Maybe a 1817 or 1803 Springfield?

    Maybe one of these then?
