Jim Buckwell, could you please confirm your bore and grove measurements. Also would like to know your twist rate and number of lands/groves . Mine is a 14000 serial number and has the faster twist rate- 1-48?, 6 groves and the bore is considerably larger.

Eggman , thanks for the pictures and measurements. They are in line with what I have been seeing on originals on the low end for billet diameter . Does the bullet come out of the cartridge? If so would like pics and measurements.

Hal, I had a chance to put 4 offhand rounds through the Gallagher yesterday at the end of my club match. Jerked all of themas the trigger pull is in the 15#+ range. Stop was able to hit a 40 yard target and group around 5? using a 56-56 spencer bullet. Will probably get to bench it this coming weekend and see how it really does. Won?t get to work on the trigger pull though.

    bore dia.

I pushed a bullet through the bore of my gun and confirmed it has 6 lands and grooves, the major diameter is .528" and the minimum diameter is .509". It appears to be a 1-28 twist rate. The sizing I do to the bullets is more for seating in the brass tube than anything else and it appears to work well.

    Jim Buckwell,
those measurements seem a little strange . Are you saying a .509 bore and .528 grove diameters? Also the 1 in 28? twist seems to be fast . That would be almost a complete turn in the length of the barrel. If it?s a late serial number it should e about 1 in 48? and if a low number around 1 in 78? .

    Egman ,
thanks for the heads up . I?ll check it out .

    twist

I am not at all sure of my twist on that barrel, I had other things going on and pushed a patch through and it appeared the rod rotated about 270 deg. in about 20" of barrel length. The dimensions I gave for the bullet pushed thru the barrel are correct. If I think of it tonight I'll get the serial # and post it.
