I've been shooting round ball with a local group down here in Charleston, SC.
My musket shoots great with patched round ball, nine of 10 shots in a 2.5 in group off the bench, but the 5th shot was 6 inches directly left of center.
I didn't call this miss. I'm stumped.
Equipment: I use my 55 springfield musket-bill large barrel.
.570 hornady swaged ball, .015 pillow ticking (bit of soapy water on patch). 50 grains 3f
the musket takes a .577 minie'
I weighed the remaining balls in the box after the problem and all were within a tight tolerance(2 grains)
what might have cause this? probably me but maybe not.
