What would the uniforms of the CS marines have looked like?
What would the uniforms of the CS marines have looked like?
A grey frock coat with block "M" buttons, trimmed with black ribbon on the collar and cuffs, dark blue trousers (white for summer), dark blue forage cap, and black brogans. He would be armed with a 3 band Enfield and have English leathers.

You cannot go wrong with Mr. Gills uniform. In general, it seems to fit the bill. A good source of information I've found is Ralph Donnelly's History of the Confederate States Marine Corps, 1976. In it he writes that Marines also wore sky blue trousers as well.
