How do you guys set up your Sharps carbine sights?

So I set up my Pedersoli Sharps Carbine so that with the ladder folded down, the rear sight and my front sight blade (I replaced it with a taller one) shoots the bullseye with a 6 o'clock hold on the bullseye at 50 yards.

But I cannot find a good solution for a 100 yard sight picture.

If I flip up the ladder, and use the lower-most notch in the ladder frame, that is too low. It's basically the 50 yard sight picture I think.

If I flip up the ladder, and slide the slider all the way down to the bottom, that is too high.

So I'm thinking I need to fill in the bottom of the hollowed out spot of the ladder to get a good 100 yard sight platform?

    What do you guys do?

FWIW, I soldered a piece of flat metal into the center of the ladder and filed a notch. I shoot with the slider held all the way to the top of the ladder to keep it out of the way.

Thanks, Paul, that's what I had in mind, too.

Another suggestion was to use the slider to construct a square "peep hole" between the bottom of the ladder opening and the bottom of the slider.

I like a more "definite" site so I may go the solder route.

Not sure that I follow. Is the suggestion to flip the slider upside down so that the two V-notches create a peep?

I ran across a thread that said that this member was making peep sights that didn't need any alterations. Kevin 847-650-1209

No, I think what they are suggesting is to lower the slider all the way to the bottom, then push it up one or two notches, which opens up a little window under the slider that you can use as kind of a "ghost ring" peep sight.
