I have what appears to be a Garrett Arms 1863 carbine. From the date code it looks to be made in 1978. It has the Garrett Arms stamp on both sides of the receiver. It does not have the saddle ring bar. Were these ever made without them ? The receiver has the 'hole' where the bar would be neatly filled with a screw - and the stock has the mounting plate there - with the hole where the ring bar would go filled. thanks, Chris
