WTS: Orig 1816 H&P Conv Musket M.T. Wickham Dated 1861

M.T. Wickham M1816 it was a flintlock converted to percussion for the state of New Jersey by Hewes & Phillips, H&P. It is an early first model confirmed by its 1861 barrel date. The rifled bore on this musket is bright and shiny! I've had this for about 15-20 or so years now and I am not the one who cleaned it. Selling a lot of my collection to pursue new opportunities. Credit cards accepted through my FFL's shop with a 3.5% fee or USPS MO/Bank Cashiers Check. Three day inspection as long as musket is not taken apart due to possible damage that might be incurred. If living close say a 100 or so miles by I'd be happy to drive halfway as long as you throw me a $20 for Fuel. $1300 plus shipping/ins

That's a great price for a shooter and collector's piece.

    1816 h&p

Appears to have a patent breech? Would that be approved for N-SSA?

    H and P's .

As a general rule, the answer is no. The H and P's with a clean out screw and the backward facing rear sight means that it was probably smooth then rifled and then someone bored it out again. The last word on the matter is the chairman of the SAC committee. This year the Regional Inspectors are suppose to start checking the line for H and P's. Original H and P's need to have a SAC card to make sure all is legal.

    Harry,

Reread the original ad. That musket is still rifled.

To answer Mike Hale directly: Yes, the "Patent Breech" is legal for use in the N-SSA. For conversational purposes it is more correctly known as a "Chambered Breech", but both terms work just fine.

Because this is a Rifled Musket it is only allowable in the Musket Team Matches, and Individual Musket Matches. It is not allowed to be altered to a smoothbore for any purposes whatsoever in the N-SSA.
