    Hammer Screw thread size

Looking for the thread size for an original Springfield hammer screw. I want to clean-up threads on a screw I have. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

    Mike,

Original hammer screw seems to fit the 10-32 hole in my Brownell's Screw Checkr gauge.

The threads are of the Whitworth form with a 55 deg included angle and rounded crest and root. New surplus original screws are available if you find you need one.

    Mike,

This is sounding like a nose bleed already. If you have to buy a specialty die or go to any other expense to fix yours it will cost way more than it is worth. Like John said, just replace it. PM me your address and I'll send you one on me. I have enough that I'll probably never use.

Al Frasca has 55 degree Whitworth 10-26 and 12-26 taps over at trapdoorcollector.com, but no dies.
