    Why ?

I have 2 shooters models. They take .457 balls.

In trying .457 balls, they almost drop into the cylinder. I have seen posts that say .457 and posts that say .464 balls. I do not have the original paper work with the pistol, but some posts say .464 is in the paperwork from the factory that folks received. It could be that different series used different sized balls. At any rate, mine is in near new condition and shoots lousy. I am presuming a larger ball will do the trick. Any comments are appreciated.

I would suggest contacting Pietta directly and ask if they can send you a copy of the original paperwork, perhaps even something you can download.

Pietta website calls for .464 for their competition model.

According to my notes I have a .465 Lyman mold. If you are interested I will dig it out and come up with a price.

I bought mine about 20 years ago and .457 are very “snug” loading into the cylinder. I would double check that the rounds you tried are indeed .457.

The manual is interesting to see see that it says .464 while stating that 15 grns. of FFFg is the max load.
