    Smith Carbine Research

I am still working on my reference book on the Smith Carbine since this past October. I have had the good fortune to find some very interesting information on the Smith, much of from NSSA members. The other day I found a photo of a civilian issue Smith made by Mass. Arms. This particular Smith is a two digit serial number and has a checkered stock. The other interesting thing about this particular firearm is the manufacturer information is on top of the receiver instead of the more commonly found stampings on the left side of the receiver. I am continuing to build the data base of serial numbers along with their place of manufacture, Mass Arms or American Machine Works. If you own an original Smith and would like to share some photos or information with me that would be great. The more serial numbers in the data base the better. You can PM me with information. Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide!
