    Erma Gallagher

Just pick up a Erma Gallagher in great to new shape need to know what to shoot in it. Will the sharps bullet with Charlie Hahn tubes work in it? I shoot a Sharps with this setup and it shoots great. the bore has like 16 groves and what looks like a vary fast twist. do you have to use the brass tubes or will Charlies tubes work? Thanks for any help, Dave.

You really have to use brass tubes.

Gallagher brass and round balls for that German barrel. You can get it relined and setup to use the Smith plastic tubes

    Gallagher

Bobby Hoyt relined mine to .50 cal. I went with his suggestion to chamber it for Gallagher brass. The brass is expensive but they'll probably out live me. As usual with Bobby's work, the carbine is a tack driver. I use a Lee Smith/Maynard mould.

In my personal opinion, reaming out a Gallagher chamber to accept a Smith cartridge removes too much metal from the breech.

Will the 50 cal conversion be legal for N-SSA use?

Yes, it is legal to change the caliber of an Erma Werke Gallager from .54 to .50. When that is done you are required to have a Small Arms Individual Approval Card issued for it. This is because you have altered the arm from the caliber in which the arm was approved for use in the N-SSA.
