    Harold Wolf, 1st NY Dragoons

It is my sad duty to report that my father, Harold Wolf, of the 1st NY Dragoons, passed away this morning after a short but difficult battle with liver cancer. Dad started skirmishing in the late 1960's. Although health issues had hampered his ability to shoot the past few years, he was still an active member who loved the N-SSA, and he still was taking his gear into the schools and giving lectures in the local middle schools. His passion for shooting and for Civil War history were infectious and I owe my love of both to him. He was, without a doubt, my best friend and I will miss the hours I spent on battlefields and in museums with him more than I can fathom right now. But, I also know he is at peace and is watching over us now. And, hopefully, he's already around a campfire with those friends who have gone before, laughing and joking and carrying on.

Dad, until we meet again, fair winds and following seas. I love you and already miss you.

    Harold Wolf, 1st NY Dragoons

On behalf of the 7th Regt. Va. Vol. Inf. please accept our condolences. Your father will be dearly missed by many. His dedication to the N-SSA and his passion for Civil War history were infectious, as you so aptly described. Educating youngsters on the Civil War as your father did is testimony to his lifelong commitment to preserving history. God bless him and your family.
