Lawrence pellet primer system for repro Sharps

    Hi everyone!
Is it possible to reproduce Lawrence primer system on Pedersoli 1863 Sharps lock plate? Or maybe someone did it before? Could anyone advise me where to find sizes or schemes of details.
I tried to search by google, but only found some photos of Garret repros.

I do not think it can be done. I would suggest you find someone with an original Sharps who will let you examine their lock as compared to a Pedersoli. Although, this begs the question of "Why would you want to do that?"

Oh, I understand the "Why". I'm like that myself. My wife has the fever for an 1855 with the Maynard Tape Primer. I can promise you I will try my hand at making up some primer tapes and see if we can make it work, if we ever buy one, just for the fun of seeing if you can do it.

I know a guy who makes whiskey. It's an interesting process and something that's neat to see done and something can say you've done when it's all over with. But there's a reason people age it in charred oak barrels for years on end, so I doubt I ever shoot more than one or two rolls of primer tape, even if I figure it out. But if I do, I can say I've done it.

Because I want to do it! Like Hal said. If it's possible I want to try. But I'm surprised that no one tried to do it.
Unfortunately in my country there are not so much original Sharps rifles.

The Garret Sharps that I have has a fully functional pellet priming system. I was told that the internal parts were interchangeable with an original, weather that is true or not I do not know. I was also told years ago that you could modifi the green stick em cap pistol caps to work in it. But I never tried it. Sounds like something to fool with on a cold winter night when your wife is mad at you.

Leontev - I originally failed to note that you are located in Russia! I'm curious, do you have a distributor for the reproduction Pedersoli Sharps in Russia, or do you have to have it imported?

John Holland Yes. I'm in Russia. We had a Pedersoli distributor earlier but not now.

Ron The Old Reb Could you measure the pellet channel and slot on the lock plate? Or just make a photo with ruller. I'd like to understand if Pedersoli and Garrett has the same dimensions.

Hello Eggman. One memory you will never erase about a Sharps, is that mine CONSISTENTLY kicked your butt on the line, even WITH an occasional FTF!! The only way that you could remove yourself from that "particularly embarassing" situation, was to leave the Iredell Blues and move from the Carolina Region to one WAY down South! Always your friend and perpetual 'burr in your saddle', Norm.
