    ammo paper or speed loaders?

Do most musket shooters use speed loaders or stay with the traditional paper cartridges? Thanks

    Hi Steve,

Most of us use plastic tubes for loading. They are called cap-plugs. They come in various sizes and can be used for years. I've been doing this for 45 years and that's what I use.

i had to come home early from the National Matches as I found a nasty virus and am now hoping I can eventually stop coughing long enough to get some sleep!

    Where are you located?

Hi Steve. I don't know that traditional paper cartridges of the US 1855/1862 pattern were ever approved for use in anything other than the Traditional Musket matches. I would like to use them at least once and a while as I enjoy making them.

Most people use the plastic cap plug tubes as they are reusable. Some people still use cardboard ones.

I've seen several people use them over the years. You can't stick the paper down the barrel.
