For sale is an early Second Model Maynard Carbine made by Larry Romano. He is no longer making any of the Second Model Maynards. Some of the unique features of this gun include an attractive perch belly stock and a slight offset to the hammer which makes it much easier to sight than the original guns. The barrel shoots great with a .516" sized bullet and I currently use reduced capacity cases. I have also used full capacity cases in it and have had no issues with cases. The gun locks up beautifully and it comes with a rear skirmish sight. The gun was originally sighted in with a load of 25.5 to 26 grains of Goex 3f and the standard Smith Maynard bullet weighing 350 to 365 grains. I have a couple of single cavity moulds including a Lyman and a Rapine available and could sell some brass if you need some. I have been shooting a First Model for many years and don't see myself changing back to the Second Model. It is a great gun to shoot and with the offset hammer, faster and easier to acquire targets. I am shooting the same ammo in my First Model, but have reduced the load recently. The barrel had some hard spots that didn't hold the original bluing and I have reblued those spots. I am asking $1,575 for the gun.
