I have a musket with a 28.5" sight radius that shoots 8" high (and very slightly left- about 3/4") at 100 yards. Sight calculations would suggest that I need to lower the rear sight aperture by .063." Or, about 1/16". I don't care so much about being 3/4" left. I can KY windage that.
Right now it's a peep sight. I think that I'm going to simply cut off the sight at the peep, and file it deeper, in stages. I'd actually prefer an open sight for the 100 yard event. But just for a ballpark estimation, does that depth change sound right?
