Picked up a like new 1860 Army from Traditions / Pietta. Some say the ball diameter has to be .454 others .451, anyone have experience with these?

    Pietta revolver

I have a couple revolvers made by Pietta. The specs on your revolver should be .440 lands with .003 button rifling for a .446 groove. The cylinder is stated as having the same .446 chamber diameter. A .451 ball should work. I would check your cylinder chamber diameter. Many are undersized and if this is a used revolver someone might have semi accurized your cylinder by opening the cylinders to nearer the .451 or .454 diameter. Stick with round ball. I tried conicals and could'nt get the colts to group at all.
